Iconik (Iconic):

Widely recognized and well-established, widely acknowledged especially for distinctive excellence; Of, relating to, or having the characteristics of an icon. 

Icon: A widely known symbol, person who is admired

Iconik dancers have come to a point in their dance journey where a significant amount of growth has taken place, and often during this stage in a tween/teenagers life they seek to “represent” or be associated with a certain thing, person, fad, trend…etc.  We desire to see these students represent Identity, and most importantly, God, with distinctive excellence and passion.  The heart behind this name is not to want to “be” the icon, rather, represent the standard that is already in place. We encourage excellence in attitude, effort, desire, attendance, & performance.

Iconik is a step up from Ignite, and is comprised largely of middle-school and high school aged dancers. This group often performs with the Identity Company and incorporates more styles of dancing into their choreographic work, including lyrical, contemporary, and hip hop. More advanced technique is taught at this level of the performance groups. Iconik dancers are encouraged to take an additional class of choice. The group performs several times in Identity’s two annual shows, as well as occasional community performances.
