New Competitive Dance Program

We hope your summer has been filled with family, friends, and funny dance moves. But, Fall is coming up quick and that means back to the studio!
Identity Staff has a big announcement to share with you, so please read carefully. Drum roll please…
Dancers, get excited because beginning in September of 2020, Identity is launching its very own Competitive Dance Program!
For those of you that aren’t yet familiar with competitive dance, don’t fret. This is new to everyone and we promise to answer all of your questions. Attached at the bottom of this email is a PDF summary of our competition program outline that includes the basic information regarding commitment, cost, and opportunities competition includes. We encourage everyone look at our plan even if you or your child in unsure if this is something you are interested in. If you have questions please refer to the PDF first, and then if pressing please contact us! A parents only competition orientation meeting will be scheduled promptly after auditions.
Competition will be a placement program by audition only, offered to ages 9 and up. Two branches are available, Hip-Hop competition and Jazz/Lyrical (Tech) competition, each with separate auditions. Dancers are encouraged to audition for both, regardless of level or experience!! Auditions will be held September 4th and 5th @ Identity Dance Co.! A 20$ audition fee is due upon arrival.
– Hip-Hop Competition Audition: Sept. 4th
– Ages 9-13 @4:30-6 PM
– Ages 14-18 @ 6:30-8 PM
– Tech Competition Audition: Sept. 5th
– Ages 9-13 @ 1-3:30 PM
– Ages 14-18 @ 4-6:30PM
IF YOU / YOUR DANCER INTENDS TO AUDITION, RSVP IS MANDATORY DUE TO COVID SPACING REGULATIONS! To RSVP please respond to this email directly with your dancers name, age, and what they are auditioning for (hip-hop or tech or both!). RSVP’s will be taken up to 24 hours before the event.
After we receive your RSVP you will get a email back with more specifics on what to expect at auditions.
Because competition is brand new and existing placements do not already exist it is necessary that we see dancers in identical conditions; which is why video auditions are not feasible.
** If you are unable to make the audition time due to travel plans or COVID restrictions private auditions will be available upon request. Private auditions will put your dancer at no advantage or disadvantage. Please respond to this email if that is the case.
The introduction of this program is NOT replacing our existing performance program! Competition is an additional opportunity for your dancer to enhance and refine their current skill set. This program will take their dancing to the next level by allowing participants to travel and train as a team and work up to their full dance potential. We want this program to be one of opportunity and excitement, not stress. This is only Identity’s first year ever competing, there will be zero expectation of excellence. Year one of our competition program will consist of setting attainable goals and working hard to reach them. We want our dancers to find growth not destruction. Everything about our implementation of competition will be constructive, not critical.
We want you to know that Identity still stands for the same core values as always, we Dance On Purpose. We plan to bring our purpose with us everywhere we dance, including the competitive stage.
Lastly, the implementation of the competition program has created a few scheduling changes, so bare with us while we finish drafting the Fall Schedule, we promise you will be seeing it shortly!
